Service

After a service, your watch can last for years without having to worry about anything. The watch is completely disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. The watch is then adjusted and tested for water resistance.

What is a service?

Dozens of parts move continuously past each other in a mechanical clock. Oil hardens and dirt and dust can cause wear. The result is that the accuracy of the timepiece continues to deteriorate.

During a service, the timepiece is completely disassembled. All parts are inspected and then cleaned in a watch cleaning machine. The timepiece is then reassembled and lubricated according to professional guidelines. The watch is adjusted until it keeps time as precisely as possible. Finally, new gaskets are installed. If necessary, water resistance is also tested.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a service and an overhaul?

There is no difference between an overhaul and a service. Sometimes the term overhaul is used to refer to a "full service" and the term servicing to refer to a type of limited maintenance in which the movement is not disassembled and only the easily accessible parts are re-oiled. Neovintage only carries out full servicing, as the benefit of partial maintenance is not clear and can sometimes be counterproductive.

How often should I have my watch serviced?

In the past, a period of 5 to 7 years was always recommended. However, the synthetic oils and greases that are currently used to lubricate the watch are so good that this period can no longer be generally recommended. For a properly sealed case, a service interval of 10 or more years is often fine, as long as the watch runs properly. A vintage watch with a lower quality case, which does not keep out dust, dirt and moisture 100%, will need to be serviced more often.

Will my watch be sent to a service center?

No, all work is carried out in the workshop in Weesp by a certified Service Technician.

I want a quote, is that possible?

Yes, you will receive a quote before the work starts. The work will only start after you have agreed to the quotation.

How much warranty do I get?

Two years for service, one year for other work.

How long does a service take?

This cannot be said in advance, it depends, among other things, on what is found during disassembly and whether, for example, repairs or parts are needed.

You can follow the progress of your service or repair via the customer portal. You will automatically receive an email when there is progress. This way you know where you stand.
